Zach Latimer

Washington Redskins

Rookie Free Agent

Strength: Zach Latimer has a lot of experience against top college football players. Zach Latimer showed ability to make big plays during his senior season. Zach Latimer showed very improved play calling and play recognition during his senior season.
Weakness: In college, Zach Latimer was not around the ball as much as you'd like to see from the inside linebacker position until his senior season. In spite of his smallish build, Zach Latimer lacks the ideal speed to play regularly at outside linebacker.
Development: Zach Latimer is actually one of the few rookie free agents the Redskins have signed this year that other teams spent a significant time scouting. What Zach Latimer has that catches scouts attention is a fair amount of athleticism and a large dose of football intelligence. Zach Latimer has been a very productive player in college, but still has a lot of technique work to do in order to compensate for his physical shortcomings. Because of his field intelligence and overall intelligence, the Redskins view him as a potential utility linebacker. His production on special teams will probably determine whether he sticks around with the Redskins long enough to develop into that roll. The odds are stacked against him, but the potential is there. The Redskins have almost an embarrassing amount of special teams stars to compete with for a job, and are equally stacked with young linebackers. If Zach Latimer shows himself to be versatile he may some day be a regular NFL player.
Fantasy Football Rating: No impact in near future.
Typecast Outlook Opinion: Productive. Smart. Overachiever. Project.
