Carl Berman

Washington Redskins

Rookie Free Agent

Indiana State

Strength: Carl Berman has blazing speed. Carl Berman has experience as a return man on special teams. Carl Berman makes quick cuts and sells his routes.
Weakness: Carl Berman is very short for a wide receiver. Carl Berman put up possession receiver type stats against weak college competition.
Development: Much of Carl Berman's success in college can be attributed to cornerbacks being afraid of being beaten deep by a very fast man. That probably won't be the case in the NFL. Carl Berman is going to need to run perfect routes on every snap and show more strength in breaking away from arm tackles if he is to develop into an NFL receiver. The Redskins have plenty of wide receivers coming into camp and are known to generally break ties by leaning towards experience, so Carl Berman will come in battling for a practice squad spot and trying to prove his value as a return man. In spite of his superior speed, Carl Berman will have a long uphill battle to make it in the NFL. Carl Berman must work out hard every day, know the playbook perfectly, and run his routes perfect every time he takes the practice field to have a chance to hold on long enough for a chance. Further, he must break off some long plays in training camp. If Carl Berman can do all of that he should succeed because there is no doubt about his speed or athleticism.
Fantasy Football Rating: Nothing in the near-term unless he somehow wins return man job.
Typecast Outlook Opinion: Speed. Raw project.
