Strength: Troy Polamalu is one of the best all-around athletes in the draft. Troy Polamalu has great speed for a safety. The film on him shows him to enjoy making big hits on receivers as they try to catch the ball and slamming into running backs with a head of steam. He has cover skills, though he obviously prefers tackling all over the field.
Weakness: Troy Polamalu is small for a strong safety, though he plays tough. Troy Polamalu has been known to get caught up in the box on passing plays.
Development: Troy Polamalu will step into Pittsburgh's lineup and start right away. He needs to learn to read formations, but is relatively polished as a safety. Troy Polamalu has always been around the guy with the ball and that will continue in Pittsburgh. With his hitting skills, don't be surprised to see him the leading special teams tackler too, if Pittsburgh feels it can afford to let him play on special teams.
Fantasy Football Rating: Didn't put up big stats in college, except for tackles. Probably won't put up big stats in pros. May scare a few running backs and receivers out of making catches in or running horizontally through his zones when they play Pittsburgh.
Typecast Outlook Opinion: 90% chance of success. 50% chance of Pro Bowl.
